Help for nearby customers to find you

We set up the words your customers search for and fix wrong or duplicate listings, so your business shows the same correct facts everywhere.

In one minute

Local SEO is the work of helping nearby customers find your business when they search online. We start with the words people type, such as your trade and your town. Then we find every place on the internet that lists your business, fix the wrong or duplicate listings, and add the ones that are missing. You approve our plan before we change anything, and nobody can promise where you will show up in search.

What is Local SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. That is a long name for a simple idea: making it easier for a search engine, such as Google, to understand what your business does and where you do it. Local SEO is the same idea for a business that serves one town or area, like a plumber, an HVAC company or a landscaper.

A citation is any place online that lists your business name, address and phone number. Directories, map apps, chamber of commerce pages and trade association pages are all citations. They do not have to link to your website. If your name, address or phone number is different from one place to the next, customers get confused, and search tools may be less sure which facts are right.

Our Local SEO work has two big parts. The first is keyword setup. A keyword is simply a word or phrase a customer types, like "emergency plumber" with the name of your town. We write down the words that fit your trade and your towns. The second is a citation audit. We look for your business across the internet, note what is wrong, missing or doubled, and fix it. Along the way we also set up listings in the directories that suit your trade.

What you get

  • Keyword setup: a plain list of the words customers use for your trade and your towns
  • A citation audit: a check of where your business is listed online and what each listing says
  • A clean-up list that shows every wrong, missing or duplicate listing and what we will do about it
  • Fixes to wrong names, addresses, phone numbers and hours, so they match everywhere
  • Removal or merging of duplicate listings, where the site allows it
  • New listings in the directories that suit your trade and area
  • Your business details kept in one clear, agreed form, so every listing uses the same words
  • A plain note in your monthly report on what was fixed and what is still waiting

Is this for you?

A good fit if

  • You serve one town or a group of nearby towns
  • Your phone number, address or name has changed over time, or is written differently in different places
  • You think there may be old or duplicate listings, and you do not know where
  • You want someone to do the tedious work of checking and fixing listings for you

Probably not for you if

  • You want a promise of a top spot on Google, which nobody can honestly give
  • You only sell online and have no local area you serve
  • You do not want us to touch your listings or ask you for access

How it works

  1. Get started with your rep

You talk with our team, or your Liftofly rep gives you a one-time code. Your rep builds a plan with you, and you see the details in writing before you agree.

  2. We set up your keywords and details

You tell us your trade, your towns and the exact way your business name, address and phone number should appear. We write that down as your one agreed version.

  3. We audit your listings

We search for your business across the internet and note every listing that is wrong, missing or doubled. We give you a clean-up list in plain words. AI helps with first drafts, such as listing descriptions, and a person at Liftofly checks everything.

  4. You approve it before anything goes live

You read the clean-up list and say yes or ask for changes. Only then do we fix, merge or add listings.

What you will have to do

You tell us the correct business name, address, phone number, hours and the towns you serve. You read and approve our clean-up list. For some listings, the directory will ask you to confirm you own the business. When that happens we will tell you what to expect. We ask you to add us using the invite option the site provides, so you never need to hand over a password.

What it looks like

Sample, made-up business

Listing clean-up list for Ridgeline Plumbing, a made-up business

This is a made-up example of a clean-up list, to show how we write one. It is not a real customer report.

Main business directory: shows an old phone number. Fix: change it to the current number.

Map app listing: the business name is spelled wrong. Fix: correct the spelling to match the sign on the truck.

Local chamber of commerce page: shows an address from before the move. Fix: update the address.

Trade directory: the business is listed twice. Fix: merge the two into one and remove the extra.

Review site page: opening hours are missing. Fix: add the hours.

Social media page: no link to the website. Fix: add the website address.

Why it matters, in plain words

When a customer searches for a plumber, an HVAC company or a roofer near them, the search tool is trying to work out which businesses are real, where they are and how to reach them. If the facts about your business are different in different places, that is harder to do. A customer who finds an old phone number may call a dead line, and that is a lost job.

Our article on the Google Business Profile makes a related point: your name, address, phone number and hours should match across your website, your Google profile and other listings. Local SEO is that same checking, done across the whole internet instead of only one page.

How this helps AI search

AI tools often pull facts about local businesses from the same listings that search engines use. If your name, address and phone number are the same everywhere, those tools have fewer chances to get you wrong. Nobody can promise that an AI tool will mention your business.

Honest expectations

  • This work is steady, not instant. Each directory updates on its own schedule, and some take a while to accept a change. Google says changes usually take weeks to months to show up in search, so give the work time.
  • We cannot promise rankings, more calls, more visitors or more customers. We can promise that your listings will be checked, that the facts will be consistent, and that you will see what we did.
  • Some listings are hard to change. A few sites will not let anyone but their own staff merge or remove a duplicate. When that happens, we tell you plainly and say what we tried.

Questions people ask

Who owns my listings?

You do. Listings are in your business name, and the accounts and work belong to you. We ask to be added as helpers, and we never ask for your passwords.

Do I have to approve the changes?

Yes. You see the clean-up list first and say yes or no. We do not change a listing until you approve.

How do I get started?

Talk to our team, or, if your Liftofly rep has given you a code, use the Have a code button. Your rep builds a plan with you and you see the details in writing before you agree.

Can I stop?

Yes. Your plan and agreement explain exactly how, and your rep will go over it with you before you sign. Your listings stay in your name, so they stay with you.

Is this the same as my Google Business Profile?

It is related, but not the same. Your Google Business Profile is one listing. Local SEO looks at all the places that list your business, and that includes Google.

Will this put me at the top of Google?

No one can promise that, and we will not. Accurate, consistent listings and the right search words give you a fair chance to be understood. They do not guarantee a position.

Works well with

  • Google Business Profile

Your Google listing is the most important one, and it should say the same things as every other listing.

  • Reviews

Steady, honest reviews help customers trust you once they find you.

  • AI Visibility

Checks what AI tools say about your business, which depends on the same facts we are cleaning up.
