Someone to look after your website

We keep your site online, safe and up to date, make small changes when you ask, and tell you each month what we did.

In one minute

Website Care is the regular upkeep a website needs, handled for you. That means hosting, backups, security updates, watching that the site is online, and small text and photo changes. You get a short plain-English note each month on what was done. Your site and your domain name stay yours, and your rep writes down who is responsible for each job, so nothing falls between the cracks.

What is Website Care?

A website is not something you build once and forget. It is closer to a shop. Someone has to keep the lights on, fix what wears out and keep the doors locked. Website care is that upkeep.

It has a few parts. Hosting is the computer, owned by a hosting company, where your website's files live and are sent to visitors. If hosting stops, your site goes offline. A backup is a saved copy of your site, kept somewhere separate, so we can put it back if something breaks. Updates are fixes to the software your site runs on. They close security holes that others have found. Uptime watching means we check that the site is actually online, so we find out about a problem before your customers do.

Website Care also covers small changes. If your hours change, you add a service, or you want a new photo, you tell us and we do it. A person at Liftofly makes and checks every change, and nothing goes live without your say-so. AI may help us draft wording, and we say so openly.

Our article on what website care means goes through each part in more detail and lists the questions to ask any web provider. Website Care is how we answer those questions for you.

What you get

  • Hosting: a reliable place for your site to live, so it stays online
  • Backups: regular saved copies of your site, kept in a separate place
  • Security and software updates, applied and checked afterward
  • Uptime watching: we check that the site is online, and we act if it is not
  • Care for the padlock protection on your site, called HTTPS, so it keeps working
  • Small text and photo changes when you ask, such as new hours or a new service
  • A plain-English note each month on what was done
  • A written list of who is responsible for each job, and a person to contact when something goes wrong

Is this for you?

A good fit if

  • You have a website, or are getting one, and do not want to worry about keeping it running
  • You do not know who is handling your hosting, backups or updates
  • You want a real person to call when something breaks
  • You make small changes now and then, and want them done without learning new software

Probably not for you if

  • You enjoy managing your own site and want to do all of it yourself
  • You want big redesigns or new pages every month, which is a different job from care
  • You want a promise that nothing will ever go wrong, which no one can give

How it works

  1. Get started with your rep

You talk with our team, or your Liftofly rep gives you a one-time code. Your rep builds a plan with you, and you get the details in writing before you agree to anything.

  2. We look at your site and write down who does what

We find out where your site is hosted, who owns your domain name, and what is already in place. We write down who is responsible for each job, using the same list our article on website care suggests.

  3. We set up and keep watch

We set up backups, updates and uptime watching, and test that each one works. After that, we keep up with them each month. You send us small changes whenever you need them.

  4. You approve changes before they go live

When you ask for a text or photo change, we send you what it will look like first. Only after you say yes does it go onto your site. Each month we send you a short note on what was done.

What you will have to do

You tell us when something needs to change, such as hours, a phone number or a photo. You read the monthly note, and tell us if anything looks wrong. You do not need to log in to anything technical. We ask you to add us using the invite option a site provides, so you never need to give us a password.

What it looks like

Sample, made-up business

Monthly care note for Ridgeline Plumbing, a made-up business

This is a made-up example of a monthly note, to show how we write one. It is not a real customer report. It has no numbers or results in it on purpose.

Your site was online all month. We found one short outage and fixed it the same day. We told you about it when it happened.

Backups ran as planned. We checked that a recent backup could be restored, and it worked.

We applied a few software updates. After each one, we checked the site and the contact form. Both still work.

We made two changes you asked for. We updated your holiday hours and swapped the photo on your About page. You approved both before they went live.

Your domain name renews later this year. The reminder goes to your email. We will remind you again closer to the date.

Nothing needs your attention right now. If your phone number or services change, tell us and we will update the site.

Why it matters, in plain words

A website that is down, broken or out of date costs a business customers. A customer who finds an old phone number, a contact form that does not work or a page that will not load usually moves on to the next name.

The basics of upkeep are not secret. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency lists updating software as one of four essentials for businesses. The FTC advises regular backups. Website Care is those basics, done on a schedule by someone whose job it is.

The biggest problem is often not the work. It is that nobody is sure who is doing it. Many owners find out too late that no one was making backups or renewing the domain. That is why we write down who is responsible for each job.

How this helps AI search

AI tools and search engines can only use a site they can reach. A site that stays online, loads properly and has current details gives them accurate facts about your business. Nobody can promise that an AI tool will name you.

Honest expectations

  • Care reduces risk. It does not remove it. Websites can still have problems, and sometimes a problem takes a little time to fix. When one happens, we tell you what happened and what we did about it.
  • We cannot promise your site will never go down or never be attacked. We can promise that backups will be made, updates will be applied and checked, we will watch that the site is online, and you will get a plain note on what was done.
  • Care does not make your site rank higher or bring in more customers. It keeps what you have working. It also covers small changes only. Bigger jobs, such as new pages or a redesign, are separate work.

Questions people ask

Who owns my website and my domain name?

You do. Your domain name is registered in your name, and your website and its content belong to you. We look after them for you.

Do I have to approve changes to my site?

Yes. We show you each change first, and nothing goes live until you say yes.

How do I get started?

Talk to our team, or, if your Liftofly rep has given you a code, use the Have a code button. Your rep builds a plan with you and you see the details in writing before you agree.

Can I stop?

Yes. Your plan and agreement explain exactly how, and your rep will go over it with you before you sign. Your site and your content stay yours, and you can ask for a copy.

What if my site was built by someone else?

We look at it first and tell you plainly what we find. Whether we can care for it depends on how it was built. We will say so before you agree to anything.

What counts as a small change?

Things like new hours, a changed phone number, a new service line or a swapped photo. New pages or a redesign are bigger jobs. We tell you which is which before we start.

What happens if the site goes down?

We watch for it and work to fix it. We tell you what happened in plain words. We cannot promise it will never happen, because even good hosting has bad days.

Do you need my passwords?

No. We ask to be added as a helper using the invite option a site provides. We never ask you to send us a password.
